Rice cooker, pressure cooker or multicooker?
A plain rice cooker (switch, one job) is cheap but hard to find in a good brand now. A pressure cooker on the stove is fastest but needs you there. The Nutri-Pot sits between: set it, leave it, and it keeps the rice warm for hours without drying it, and does dal and khichdi too. For a student or a working couple, it is the better buy.
How much rice?
1 cup raw rice = about 2 bowls cooked = 2 people; the 3 L pot takes up to 4 cups.
Wash the rice, add water to the marked line, press 'rice'; 20–25 minutes.
Use the keep-warm for up to 4 hours; beyond that the bottom dries.
Spares
The inner pot's non-stick wears in 2–3 years and the lid gasket hardens; both are replaceable and we keep them for the Nutri-Pot, as well as the Clearline Multi Cook's pot and element.
