How to Clean and Look After Your Philips Air Fryer – 10 Do's and Don'ts (+ Accessory Kits)
A Philips air fryer can easily last 6–8 years – if the basket coating and the heating unit are looked after. Most air fryers that come to us for repair have the same two problems: a scratched non-stick basket and a heater coated in old oil. Both are avoidable.
Cleaning after every use (5 minutes)
Switch off, unplug and let it cool for 15–20 minutes.
Remove the pan and basket and soak them in warm water with a few drops of dish soap for 10 minutes.
Clean with a soft sponge only. Most baskets and pans are dishwasher-safe, but hand-washing keeps the coating longer.
Wipe the outside with a damp cloth.
Dry everything fully before putting it back.
Weekly: clean the heating element
Turn the main unit upside down (unplugged and cold) and brush the heating coil gently with a soft, dry brush to remove oil and crumbs. Built-up oil here is what causes smoke and burning smells.
10 do's and don'ts
Do: preheat for 3 minutes for crispier results.
Do: shake the basket halfway through cooking.
Do: use a light spray of oil, not a pour.
Do: leave 10 cm of space behind the air fryer for the hot-air outlet.
Do: use genuine Philips accessories that fit your basket size.
Don't: use steel scrubbers or metal tongs on the basket.
Don't: overfill beyond the MAX line – food steams instead of crisping.
Don't: place the air fryer on a gas stove or under a cabinet.
Don't: pour water or oil into the outer pan while cooking.
Don't: keep using a basket whose coating is peeling – replace it.
